This Girl Can Feature 1 - Wheel Women
This Girl Can to inspire women to get active

The Victorian Government have today launched their powerful, new campaign – This Girl Can, which is aimed at inspiring more women to get active.

The VicHealth campaign involves a television ad and website full of resources and advice.

Currently, three in five Victorian women don’t get enough physical activity to keep happy and healthy, with over half saying they worry about being judged while exercising.

Taking inspiration from Sport England’s popular This Girl Can campaign, the Victorian version has a distinct Aussie flavor, featuring everyday Victorian women participating in a range of sports – including Bicycle Network partner Wheel Women.

Minister for Women Natalie Hutchins said that the campaign is all about empowering women.

“This Girl Can – Victoria is all about empowering women to smash outdated stereotypes about what they can or can’t do in the gym, on the sporting field and in our neighbourhoods,” Ms Hutchins said.

The initiative also complements the Labor Government’s $220,000 Change Our Game Scholarship Program, providing a new pathway to senior roles for women in sport.

Bicycle Network is a proud participant of the Change our Game program which works with Victoria’s major sporting bodies to increase women participation and leadership across sport.

Bicycle Network’s free Women’s Community and our VicHealth Award winning MIND.BODY.PEDAL program also works to empower, inspire and help get more women active through bike riding.
