About the role
Bicycle Network is seeking a commercially driven and purpose-led Partnerships Manager to grow and deliver partnerships across our events and programs.
This contract
role will lead partnership development and delivery across Around the Bay, the Great Vic Bike Ride, Peaks Challenge, Ride2School, Ride2Work, and other emerging opportunities. You will be responsible for identifying and securing new partners, nurturing relationships, and delivering high-quality outcomes that create long-term value for partners and support Bicycle Network’s mission to get more people riding bikes, in any form.
Key responsibilities
Partnership growth and development
- Identify, pitch and secure new commercial, government and charity partners
- Build and manage a strong pipeline across events and programs
- Develop compelling partnership proposals aligned to partner objectives
- Proactively identify new opportunities across Bicycle Network’s portfolio
Relationship development and outcomes
- Nurture partner relationships to build long-term value
- Deliver high-quality outcomes that strengthen trust and retention
- Identify opportunities to grow and deepen partnerships over time
Lead partner delivery
- Lead your partner delivery across major events and programs
- Coordinate activations, branding and on-ground experiences
- Ensure seamless execution and consistently high standards
Programs and campaigns
- Support partnership integration across Ride2School, Ride2Work and other national programs
- Contribute to fundraising, participation and behaviour change outcomes
- Align partner objectives with community impact
New opportunities and growth
- Identify and develop new partnership opportunities across events, advocacy and programs
- Contribute to new commercial products and partnership offerings
- Work across the organisation to unlock integrated opportunities
About you
- Proven experience in partnerships, sponsorship, business development or fundraising
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to secure new partnerships
- A proactive and driven approach with a focus on outcomes
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Passionate about getting more people to ride bikes, in any form

Objective
As part of a project team, your main responsibility is to deliver life-changing major events like Around the Bay, the Great Vic Bike Ride, Peaks Challenge Falls Creek, and more.
This role has two key functions:
- Acting as Project Lead for Around the Bay and Peaks Challenge, ensuring flawless planning and execution.
- Leading event growth, rider communications and marketing delivery across all events, working to turn agreed plans into clear actions.
This is very much a hands-on role, and you are expected to take the initiative to ensure that all the events we produce are safe and successful.
Responsibilities
Event project lead
- Lead project for Around the Bay and Peaks Challenge, with ownership of planning, timelines, budgets, targets and team KPIs.
- Manage “on the ground” event operations before and during events, coordinating with stakeholders, suppliers, vendors and volunteers.
- Build strong relationships with LGAs, councils, local stakeholders, sub contractors, volunteer team leaders and internal project teams.
- Monitor event performance and gather feedback from stakeholders, participants and the bicycle network team for evaluation and improvement.
- Take responsibility for operational delivery of assigned elements of other events in the portfolio as required.
Event growth, rider communications and marketing delivery
- Work closely with the Marketing team to implement agreed event marketing and communications plans across the event portfolio.
- Coordinate event website updates, rider communications and EDM scheduling, ensuring participants receive accurate and timely information throughout the event journey.
- Support the delivery of event growth initiatives targeting specific segments, including schools, teams, charities, clubs and others.
- Coordinate the development and distribution of event sales collateral, participant information and operational communications in collaboration with Marketing and internal stakeholders.
- Assist with campaign execution across events, ensuring timelines, assets and stakeholder inputs are delivered efficiently and consistently.
- Coordinate post-event surveys, rider feedback and other insights to help improve participant experience and support future event growth.
- Act as a key coordination point between Events, Marketing, Rider Services and external stakeholders to support smooth delivery of event communications and participant experience initiatives.
What success looks like
- Meet or exceed event cost and income targets.
- Achieve project and documentation milestones.
- Deliver event marketing deliverables & rider communication actions on time.
- Support school, corporate, charity, fundraising and team growth targets.
- Fulfill KPIs and financial contributions.
- Maintain or improve event satisfaction scores.
Key requirements
- Effective management of project teams and resources to lead planning in achieving results.
- Strong written communication and ability to turn event detail into clear rider information.
- Understanding of event participants needs and ability to deliver on them.
- Practical experience in event communications, sales delivery, customer journey planning or marketing implementation.
- Well developed leadership skills, managing relationships across and outside the organisation.
- A demonstrated can-do, team-focused attitude in an event operations role.
