Work starts soon on improved access and amenities on the Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail (Warby Trail) at Launching Place.
The current carpark and amenities, located at the Home Hotel, will be relocated to behind the Launching Place General Store.
The spot is a popular rendezvous point for riders on the trail.
Among the improvements will be safer traffic movements at the new car park, which will also alleviate car parking congestion that can occur at the Home Hotel Carpark.
The works will run through February and should be completed by the end of March 2018, subject to favourable conditions.
Yarra Ranges Shires Shire says it will keep disruption to a minimum during the project, but that there will inevitably be some impact.
As there will be contractors and machinery in close proximity to carpark and Rail Trail users, riders are requested to slow and be prepared to stop as they approach the works, and follow directions given by construction personnel and / or traffic controllers.
And make sure you do not enter construction zones that are signed as such.
As a matter of added safety, children should be advised to keep away from the works.
