Road closures – United Energy Around the Bay
Almost 10,000 people will participate in United Energy Around the Bay from 5:00am until 7:00pm on Sunday 8 October 2023. For safety reasons, some change to traffic conditions and road closures will be made on sections of the 300km route around Port Phillip Bay including in Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula.
Residents will still have access to their properties, however it’s recommended that you allow extra time or seek alternative routes if possible. Emergency services and official event vehicles will be able to access the full route.
All changes to traffic conditions are implemented in consultation with relevant authorities including police.
Driving on-route
- Obey all road rules and follow traffic controller instructions (where applicable)
- Allow plenty of clearance when overtaking bike riders
- Be aware of oncoming traffic when overtaking bike riders
- Allow ample travel time as the average bike riders will ride between 15-35 km/h
