Tram works to close Glenferrie Road in June

The upgrade of tram track in Hawthorn will close Glenferrie Road to all traffic next month.

The 56-year-old tracks between Barkers Road and Riversdale Road will be ripped out and replace with new track, poles and wires.

Although major works are not scheduled until 24 June, early works will be underway from Sunday evening until the full closure.

The street will not be closed but construction preparations will be underway nightly between 9pm to 5am, Sunday 22 May to Friday 24 June 2022.

Riders will notice evening lane closures as works move along Glenferrie Road while the investigations progress.

There will be nightly closure of Burwood Road and Barkers Road on separate nights along with vehicles, trucks, machinery and contractors on site.

Traffic management will be set up.

The full closure of Glenferrie will be from 24 June until 11 July 2022.

Bicycle Network will provide more information about the closure closer to the event.
