New bike connection for Werribee

A new bridge planned for West Wyndham will deliver important new links in the bicycle network in Melbourne’s west.

Major Roads Projects Victoria (MRPV) has initiated planning for new road bridge over the Geelong railway line at Ison Road.

There will be a bi-directional shared path on one side of the bridge as well as on-road bike lanes in both directions.

The City of Wyndham is expected to provide local links to the new bike infrastructure.

These are expected to connect to the Werribee River Trails and the Federation Trail.

The project aims to provide a vital link between the developing residential areas of Wyndham West and Melbourne and Geelong via the Princes Freeway, giving Wyndham West residents access to surrounding areas and broader transport networks.

MRPV says the project will support urban growth and housing development in a high-growth area and reduce traffic in central Werribee as well as improving the amenity and safety of local streets and Werribee Town Centre.

Feedback on the concept is being sought from the public. Fill in the survey.
