Fed Trail closure puts riders on the Hop
Fed Trail detour kicks in

Updated April, 2021

Riders on the Federation Trail at Hoppers Crossing will need to hop across to an alternative route for a week during early May.

From 7pm Friday 30 April to 7am Thursday 6 May 2021, work will take place over Federation Trail to lift bridge beams into position to build the new road bridge across the rail line.

To allow these works to be carried out safely a section of the Federation Trail between Hoppers Crossing Station and the Old Geelong Road/Skeleton Waterholes Creek intersection will be closed.

Bikes will be detoured via Point Cook as per the map below (click to enlarge).

Riders travelling between Hoppers Crossing Station and Sayers Road will need to detour via Hoppers Lane, Hacketts Road and Boardwalk Boulevard.

Riders travelling between Werribee and Sayers Road will need to detour via Sneydes Road, Hacketts Road and Boardwalk Boulevard.

Signage advertising the closure will be up soon in four locations along the trail – the Werribee entrance, Hoppers Crossing entrance, Skeleton’s Creek entrance and on the corner of Sneydes Road and Hoppers Lane.

Rider who regularly ride the Federation Trail through Hoppers Crossing should make themselves familiar with detour route, and have regard to the extra time required.

Riders who use the trail as part of the circuit via Sneydes Road and the Bay Trail along the coast should also take note of the route switch at Sneydes Road.
