Seat clamp defect triggers Avanti recall

A product recall has been issued for Corsa and Giro models of Avanti bikes due to a potential defect in the frame seat clamp bolts.

The issue affects the following model ranges:

  • MY14 to MY18 Avanti Corsa SL (2014-18)
  • MY16 to MY18 Avanti Corsa ER and Avanti Giro C (2016-18).

There are dozens of variations of bikes within each model range. You can see the full list of bikes affected by the recall at a link below.

The MY14 to MY18 Avanti Corsa SL model ranges have the potential for the seat clamp bolts to break, or for the frame to develop minor hairline cracks during use, where the seat clamp bolts enter the frame.

MY16 to MY18 Avanti Corsa ER and Avanti Giro C model ranges have the potential for the seat clamp bolts to break during use.

These defects result in the possibility that the seat post will slide downwards inside the frame, causing the rider to lose control of the bike.

If you own one of the above bikes you should stop riding the bicycle immediately and contact the place of purchase or an Avanti dealer to arrange for a replacement seat clamp kit.
