The next stage of the detour of the Galada Tamboore Trail at O’Herns Road, Epping is afoot from next week.
This is the long term detour that will be in place until the middle of next year while O’Herns Road is upgraded and supplemented with a new interchange at the Hume Freeway.
For bike riders to safely cross O'Herns Road, there will be a of chicane water-filled barriers to orient them to a zebra crossing with two speed humps, on either side of the crossing.
The detour will take them around the back of the site compound to reconnect with the Trail proper.
To the south there is good news as the detour now hooks into the Trail at the Melbourne Water retarding basin, meaning less exposure to traffic along Scanlan Drive.
