Tram works in Nicholson Street

Riders should be alert to tram works on Nicholson Street in the vicinity of the intersection with the Capital City Trail.

Nearby tram stops will be upgraded in January next year, so preliminary work is about to get underway.

There will be limited impact on bikes, with the trail being reduced to one lane at times.

But there is some good news: the trail will be widened where is crosses Nicholson Street—something of a crush-point currently.

Work will continue until 20 September, 7:00am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday.

Access to nearby shops, businesses and residences will be maintained. Two lanes reduced to one and on street parking closed in limited sections.

Route 96 trams and bus services will run as usual.

Follow signage and traffic management around the work zone.

The stops being upgraded to accessibility status are Stop 22 – Brunswick Road, Brunswick East and Stop 21 – Pigdon Street, Fitzroy North, with about two weeks activity at each.
