Plenty Road Trail ready to roll

A new 2.8km stretch of the shared path along Plenty Road in Mill Park has opened.

The path runs from McKimmies Road to Bush Boulevard.

It has been constructed as part of the stage 1 Plenty Road upgrade.

Only line marking remains to be completed on the 3m wide concrete path.

This new path will improve access to local jobs, schools, shops and parklands.

It will be extended to Bridge Inn Road as part of the second stage of the Plenty Road Upgrade, which is set to start construction later this year.

As Plenty Road is a popular route for roadies heading out to the hills in the north-east, a rideable shoulder is also being added in both directions as part of the overall project.

Riders exploring the new trail may notice that grass seeds have recently been sprayed along the project.

More than 19,000 trees, shrubs and groundcover will also be planted in the coming months. Species include Spotted Gum, Silky Oak, Grevillea, White Correa and Flax Lilies.

Stage 2 is expected to be complete in mid 2021.
