Bike Week launch of Pedal Power e-bike sessions

Pedal Power e-bike trial sessions are now open for bookings, with four social ride leaders stepping forward to run the program.

Bicycle Network held two electric bicycle expos in Hobart last year and got an overwhelmingly positive response from people who tried an e-bike for the first time.

Thanks to the generosity of some of our members, we have a couple of e-bikes available for people to go on a ride with a volunteer e-bike rider in our Pedal Power sessions.

We would have liked to offer the sessions for free but our insurance coverage dictates that riders have to be Bicycle Network members.

With membership available at only $10.99 per month or $9.99 concession, it’s still a relatively cheap way to get a feel for an e-bike and tap into the experience of regular e-bike riders. And during Bike Week we are offering anyone who books for a ride a month's free membership if they are not already a member.

We have a Norco cross-bar bike, which is the staff office e-bike and a compact Kalkhoff step through that has been donated by one of our members.

A brand new Giant LaFree will be added to the fleet over the coming weeks. The LaFree is one of the first entry-level, commuter e-bike offerings with a mid-drive motor to be sold for less than $3000 in Australia.
