Bicycle Network is saddened by the sudden passing of cyclist and friend Jonathan Cantwell.
Well known among riders, ‘Jonno’ worked at a bike shop before joining SaxoBank-Tinkoff and racing the 2012 Tour de France. In 2014 he rode with Drapac Professional Cycling.
During his time as a professional cyclist he still kept in touch with the local riding community and everyday bike riders. In October 2014 he helped to promote Bicycle Network’s National Ride2Work Day.
In 2017 he announced that he had beaten testicular cancer, something he had been fighting privately.
The cycling community has rallied to support Jonathan's family and show how much he will be missed, with social media awash with messages.
Jonathan is also being remembered with a special Beach Road ride this Saturday which all riders are welcome to attend.
A GoFundMe page has also been set up for people to donate money to his partner and children.
