Recall: pedal spindles brittle

Bontrager has recalled its Line Pro flat pedals because the spindles can break.

A manufacturing defect has been discovered that causes the pedal spindles to be brittle.

This may cause one or both of the spindles to break. If the spindle breaks, the pedal body will separate from the spindle.

If the pedal body separates from the spindle while the bicycle is being ridden, the rider might lose control of the bicycle and fall, resulting in injury.

The pedals, in black or gold, were sold nationally by Trek authorised retailers from 28 April 2016 until 27 July 2018 .

Riders should stop using these pedals immediately and contact their Trek retailer to make arrangements for a repair.

Spindles are not immediately available. The retailer will place an order for the customer’s spindles and notify the customer when available for repair. Consumers can then make an appointment with the retailer to bring their recalled pedals in for repair with new spindles.
