Salute the count!
21 February 2013. On Tuesday, March 5, come hail or shine, 750 enthusiastic counters will be out on the streets and lanes in three Australian States counting bikes. There's nothing they like better than an acknowledgement by riders, so please salute them as you go by.
Count sites rushed
23 January 2013. Bike counters rushed to register for the Super Tuesday Bike Count when registrations opened last week and the majority of sites are already filled. However key locations are still open and we need your help to get more people counting on March 5.
In Victoria 85 per cent of sites are filled. But we urgently need more counters in Bayside, Wyndham, Moonee Valley and Wodonga.
In WA 80 per cent of sites are filled but we urgently need people to count in Kwinana and Cockburn.
NSW has 65 per cent of sites filled, and our priority for more counters is Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, Warringah, Parramatta and Albury.
Counting each year is a great way to contribute to building the case for better riding facilities, and it is also an ideal opportunity for community groups to raise funds for their causes.
So see what you can do to rustle up more people to count!
Note: All sites have been filled in the following council areas: Ballarat, Bendigo, Frankston, Geelong, Monash, Moonee Valley, Whitehorse, Leichardt, Woollahra, Subiaco, Cambridge, Cottesloe.
Super Tuesday veterans get first pick
13 December 2013. Super Tuesday bike counting veterans who want to count at their favourite site again in 2013 will have the opportunity of an early-bird registration in January to secure their preferred spot.
If you have already counted for us you will have a one day jump on everybody else who wants to counct this year.
Super Tuesday registrations open on Wednesday, 16th of January, 2013, but only for previous counters, who will be able to get first pick of the sites.
Registrations for the general public will open the next day, Thursday 17 January, 2013.
The actual count is taking place on Tuesday 5 March 2013 between 7am & 9am.

2013 date selected
25 September 2012 We are pleased to announce that Tuesday 5 March is the date for the 2013 Super Tuesday bike count. Australia’s biggest visual bike count, Super Tuesday is expanding with more councils using the data each year. Public awareness of the event and what it achieves is growing, with this year’s count in March receiving media coverage on both Channel 7 News and ABC News.
Super Tuesday provides participating councils with reliable annual figures of bicycle commuters and their movements on roads and bike paths and is a key tool for councils to guide their bike riding facilities.
Months of planning is required to ensure that the count runs smoothly and effectively and timelines are met.
Be part of Super Tuesday 2013 by confirming your participation by Friday 19 October.
