Hop on a bike for World Car-Free Day tomorrow

Did you know that September 22 is World Car-Free Day? We reckon it’s a great opportunity to leave the car keys at home and instead ride a bike!

Each year, cities around the world give up their cars for the day and instead turn to walking, riding a bike, and other ways to move around.

The result is less traffic, less pollution and more healthy travel.

The annual celebration started in 2000 as a grassroots movement by the World Carfree Network. The organisation’s vision is to promote alternatives to private vehicle travel, such as active transport.

The day is run in conjunction with European Mobility Week, which aims to encourage sustainable travel across the community.

This year, World Car-Free Day will coincide with the National Day of Mourning public holiday.

If you are travelling tomorrow, hop on board with World Car-Free Day and make it a bike trip.
