Day by day

WEDNESDAY 27 NOVEMBER

Day 1 | Port Fairy (arrival day)

Port Fairy Lighthouse

There’s so much to uncover in every corner of the charming village of Port Fairy that was recently voted the world's most liveable town.

Whether you’re one to browse the boutique shops and antique stores scattered throughout the town, soak up the beach vibes or taste your way through the many great local  pubs, cafes and restaurants – there’s something to keep everyone busy on rest day.

Our top picks for the day include swimming at Pea Soup Beach, taking a walk along the riverfront or tucking into pizza at Coffin Sally. Top it off with a visit to the local ice cream shop and you’ll be ready to hop back on the bike for the next day’s riding.

THURSDAY 28 NOVEMBER

Day 2 | Port Fairy – Peterborough (95 kilometres)

This will be a good day to hit the road early to really soak up the morning coastal views on the way out of Port Fairy. Prepare the legs for a pinch climb up to Tower Hill, but don’t worry, the 10/10 views make it worth the effort.

Be sure to take a break for a few postcard worthy snaps at Hopkins Falls before reaching the Great Ocean Road and taking in all the sites on the way to Peterborough including Bay of Islands, Worm Bay and Bay of Martyrs.

Once in Peterborough, you’ll find yourself in the heart of the Great Ocean Road’s most iconic and famous attractions, with beautiful coastal views and a must do coastal walk that takes you all the way back to Bay of Martyrs.

FRIDAY 29 NOVEMBER

Day 3 | Peterborough – Beech Forest (81 kilometres)

12 Apostles, Great Ocean Road

Keep the camera handy, as today we'll pedal past the famous London Bridge, the blowhole, 12 Apostles and Gibsons Steps.

Remember to pace yourself throughout the day and get ready to tackle the formidable Lavers Hill. Once you’ve conquered the climb, recharge and reward yourself with a custard tart from the general store. From there you'll have one last little climb to reach Beech Forrest through the beautiful Otways.

If your legs are itching for more once you’ve arrived in Beech Forest, you can have a crack at the Old Beechy Rail Trail by bike, explore the Otways by foot or alternatively just kick back for the afternoon at Beech Forest Pub.

SATURDAY 30 NOVEMBER

Day 4 | Beech Forest – Deans Marsh (62 kilometres)

Today, you’re in for a treat. Turton’s Track is a beautiful little stretch of road that winds its way through the Otways with some of the region’s best scenery on show.

There’s some climbing involved but the toughest part is already behind you.

Deans Marsh is a small town with a lot of heart – surrounded by beautiful green countryside, rolling hills and some wineries that are well worth a visit. Be sure to pop by the local corner store for a quality snack or meal.

SUNDAY 1 DECEMBER

Day 5 | Deans Marsh – Torquay (66 kilometres)

Torquay Esplanade

On the final day of the ride we will whizz down the hill towards Lorne through the Otways. Stop by Lorne and enjoy one of Victoria’s favourite coastal towns with plenty of great spots for a coffee and a feed.

The ride hops back on to the Great Ocean Road and travels towards Aireys Inlet and Anglesea, hugging the coast right through to our final destination and the finish line at Torquay.
