Event update – City CX cancelled 😔
Sadly, we’ve had to make the tough call to cancel the inaugural City CX.
We appreciate it’s not the news you want to hear, but with the demand not there at this point in time, we couldn’t responsibly run the event in May 2021. We were aiming for a fun, unique, off-road CX event and are disappointed we can’t see it through for you.
Registered riders will automatically receive a refund for their ticket within the next 10 business days.
Bicycle Network will be back with the events you know and love in 2021 and will continue to work with Fed Square to bring bike riding events into the heart of the city. Thank you for your support,
Cyclocross right in the heart of Melbourne
City CX is a boisterous bike riding extravaganza, the likes of which have never been seen before in our city. Featuring a short, technical urban CX course around Fed Square and River Terrace, the day is packed with high-energy time trials and crit-style events in the heart of the city.
Come for the riding, stay for the live local beats and famous Melbourne hospitality. Just don’t miss it!
Whoa, hit the brakes! This isn’t your typical CX race…
City CX is an open event*, with time trial qualifiers grading you into a group stage with riders of a similar standard.
Want to dust off your old mountain bike? Sure. Think a Brompton will give you the edge? Have a crack. This is your chance to tackle some unrivaled urban terrain. However, due to the technical nature of the course and group stages, we ask that you are confident handling your bike around obstacles and riding in a bunch.
*Please familiarise yourself with the City CX terms and conditions before registering. How does it work?
But wait, there’s more…
City CX is free for spectators, with an action-packed entertainment hub in Fed Square from 7am – 5pm. The electric atmosphere throughout the day will include live streaming of the action on the big screen, music, food & drinks, a kids ride and more!Learn more
Prizes – Who will be the fastest on the day?
There are more than just bragging rights at stake…
The fastest male and female qualifiers will go head-to-head for the chance to take home a slice of their own $1000 prize pool.
The chocolates (group stage final*)
- 1st place: $500
- 2nd place: $300
- 3rd place: $200
*The group stage is mixed but the top three placed males and females at the end of the group stage will be taking home the chocolates from their respective prize pools.
Group stage heats
All other group stage heats will have a $50 cash prize up for grabs for the first rider across the finish line. It’s safe to say, they’ll be shouting their mates a post-ride drink!
