Bicycle Network: Changed Traffic Conditions
Changed Traffic Conditions
As the RACV Great Victorian Bike Ride makes its way along the route there are a number of traffic management changes required to keep our cyclists safe.
During the event period, there will be a large number of cyclists on the roads each day. Generally, riders can be expected on the roads from 6.30am until late afternoon.
As such, please consider alternate routes on the days that your operations may be affected. However, if you must travel in areas where there are a large number of cyclists on the road, Bicycle Network asks that you remember to:
- Obey all road rules and follow traffic controller instructions (where applicable)
- Allow for plenty of clearance when overtaking cyclists
- Be aware of oncoming traffic when overtaking cyclists
- Allow ample travel time as on average cyclists will ride between 15-25 km/h
In planning the event, we work hard to consider and support all road users, and any changed traffic conditions are implemented in consultation with local councils, Victoria Police and VicRoads .
