Detour on the Creek at Docklands

The short stub of the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail where it approaches the Yarra in Docklands will be detoured from this week.

Work is soon to start on the construction of a new bike and pedestrian bridge over the creek immediately south of Footscray Road, along with works to upgrade the existing road bridges.

The West Gate Tunnel Project is setting up a site compound on the east side of the Creek where the shared path is located.

Pedestrians and riders who usually use this section of trail will have use of the path on the other side of the street, adjacent to Costco.

Although this final section of the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail once continued through to the Yarra, it has been closed since a new sound stage at Docklands Studio was built across the trail.

However, the original shared path along Pearl River Road is still marked.

A boardwalk link has been promised to take the trail around the back of the sound stage so that it again connects through to the Yarra.
