Volunteers recognised during National Volunteer Week celebrations

National Volunteer Week (May 16-22) is Australia’s annual celebration of volunteering so we took the chance to say thank you to the amazing people who generously donate their time and skills to keep Bicycle Network moving.

This year’s theme is ‘You make a world of difference’, which reflects the impact that Bicycle Network volunteers have on the lives of bike riders across Australia.

Last night, we had the privilege of recognising 11 of Bicycle Network’s most loyal and dedicated volunteers at a special ceremony to mark the occasion.

Seven volunteers were inducted to Bicycle Network’s Honour Board, whilst four volunteers were awarded Life Membership.

Honour Board status is awarded to volunteers who have served on the Bicycle Network board for at least 5 years or volunteered in another capacity for seven years, donating at least 50 hours of time across multiple events.

Life Membership is awarded to volunteers who have been with Bicycle Network for more than 10 years and donated at least 50 hours of time across multiple events.

Volunteer Coordinator Sarah Cunningham reflected on the night.

“From delivering our events, to serving on the board and collecting important Super Counts data, this year’s award recipients have played such a vital and active role across many areas of our organisation and it was such an honour for us to be able to recognise them for their efforts at our National Volunteer Week ceremony last night”.

Special events are also being held in Melbourne and Hobart this week to celebrate our wider volunteer community.
