Parkiteer is growing

Secure bicycle parking facilities at Victorian transport hubs have been significantly expanded over the last two years with 13 new cages coming online. Victoria now boasts the largest secure bike parking network in Australia with 130 Parkiteer bike cages across metropolitan Melbourne and the regions.

Parkiteer growth is showing no signs of slowing with many cages planned as part of train station redevelopment projects. The inclusion of funding for expanded bicycle parking at stations in the recent Victorian budget is another great sign for bike commuters. In just the last month new cages have opened at Edithvale, Bonbeach, Chelsea and North Williamstown. Before the end of 2022 we anticipate a further 11 new cages across the network by the end of 2023. With more secure parking facilities, connecting to transport by bicycle is easier than ever.

Some of the new Parkiteers being delivered in 2022 include:

Waurn Ponds - The station is undergoing a rail duplication station upgrade and will include a second Parkiteer along with additional CCTV, lighting, myki machines and passenger information displays. ETA late 2022.

Lilydale - The previous Parkiteer at Lilydale has been integrated into the new station, delivering safer and brighter surroundings. Major works have been completed and the cage is scheduled to be open in mid-2022.

Mooroolbark - As part of the Level Crossing Removal Project, Mooroolbark is getting a new station, and with an integrated Parkiteer. This improvement to the active transport connections is evident with connectivity between the town centre and the Red Earth Community Park. ETA mid-2022.

Merinda Park - Part of the station's major upgrade will be the inclusion of a new, inbuilt Parkiteer. ETA Mid-2022

Gowrie - A Parkiteer is scheduled to be open and operational at around mid to late 2022.

Aircraft - The station is undergoing a package of works as part of the Aviation Road Level Crossing Removal which will include a brand-new Parkiteer. ETA mid-2022.

Hoppers Crossing - A new overpass at the station has opened and surrounding landscaping and finishing works will be completed mid-2022, which will include a 2nd brand-new Parkiteer.
