Bridge closure on Diamond Creek Trail, Eltham

A section of the Diamond Creek Trail near Eltham North is currently closed due to bridge works.

The closure is due to replacement bridge works near Laurel Hill Drive. The works will see the construction of a long-life steel truss structure similar to other bridges along the trail.

A detour is in place via Wattletree Road/Arcadia Way and Allendale Road. This detour will change from today (April 11) following feedback from trail users. From this date there will be two detours to choose from:

  • Wattletree Road/Parry Road/Allendale Road; or
  • Wattletree Road/Allendale Road.

The project had originally been scheduled to be completed at the end of March. However, the impacts of COVID-19 on the construction industry have led to delays in contractor and material availability.

The Diamond Creek Trail has undergone a number of valuable upgrades recently, including a new section between Wattle Glen and Hurstbridge opening recently.

The Laurel Hill Drive bridge is expected to be completed mid to late April.
