Heidelberg Road bike lane closure

Road works in Alphington will close the city-bound bike lane on Heidelberg Road for a short distance during the next two weeks.

Contractors are rebuilding the intersection of Parkview Avenue with Heidelberg Road and will be closing the bike lane and one traffic lane.

A detour will be in place that will divert riders through the local streets, however it is somewhat convoluted as riders will need to make their way to the Chandler Highway path in order to get back to the journey along Heidelberg Road.

One traffic lane will remain open in the city bound direction, and some confident riders may choose that option.

Another option is stop and walk your bike on the footpath for a short distance that will take you around the back of intersection works. See the green arrows. There may be gravel and mud so take care.

The detour will be in place during working hours from tomorrow (Wednesday) until April 14.

Working hours are 7am to 5pm.

East-bound riders are not restricted.
