Works to continue along Gardiners Creek Trail
Works to continue along Gardiners Creek Trail

Minor disruptions along the Gardiners Creek Trail will continue as Melbourne Water moves to the next stage of the rehabilitation of the sewer main that runs through the valley.

Crews are now accessing maintenance holes to plug the sewer at various locations to reduce flows so that works to reline the pipe can get underway.

About 2.7km of the Gardiners Creek Main Sewer is to be relined, and much of the route is along the trail alignment through Glen Iris, Ashburton and Ashwood.

There will be temporary traffic disruption around manholes.

Traffic management will be present to assist motorists, bike riders and pedestrians around the temporary work sites.

Sewer by-pass pipes will be utilised as the project progresses.

And local streets that connect to the trail will have limited access as the project expands, and some detours will be required, with details to come later.

Some work will be undertaken at night and some over weekends.

The project is expected to continue until October 2022.
