Lane closures in Burnley Street

Riders on Burnley Street in Richmond may encounter partial lane closures over the next few weeks.

Melbourne Water contractors are replacing underground sewer vent lines on several blocks of the street.

Recent CCTV inspections of the Richmond Main Sewer indicated that three vent line conduits have reached the end of their service life and need to be replaced.

Vent line conduits are underground pipes that connect the sewer network to above ground vent stacks. Vent stacks play a critical role in helping ventilate the sewer system to minimise corrosion.

The works are located at:
  • Corner of West Street and Burnley Street, Burnley.
  • Corner of Manton Street and Burnley Street, Richmond.
  • Corner of Boland Street and Burnley Street, Richmond.

This is a moving work front. Works have started at the corner of Boland Street and Burnley Street and will finish at the corner of West Street and Burnley Street.

Partial lane closures will be in place at the above locations as excavation work is needed to install the new vent line conduits.

Traffic management will be in place to safely guide motorists, pedestrians and cyclists around the work site.

Please note that roads will be re-opened at the end of each working day.

Work hours will be between 7am and 5pm each day and Melbourne Water anticipate each location to take three to four days’ work to complete.
