Main Yarra Trail detour

Bikes along the Yarra Trail near Princes Bridge will be temporarily detoured at the Peppercorn Lawn tomorrow, Friday.

As part of reinstatement works above the site of one of the Metro Tunnel cross passages, two palm trees will be planted adjacent to the Peppercorn Lawn.

To plant the first of these palm trees, a crane will be required to lift the tree into place.

During the planting, the trail will be closed from Boathouse Drive to Princes Bridge, from 6am to 6pm.

The closure will allow for the crane set up, tree lift and transportation, and demobilisation.

All bike riders and pedestrians will be detoured up via St Kilda Road pedestrian signals.

As part of the detour, riders will be requested to dismount and walk their bikes along the Arts Centre / Hamer Hall ramp.

This is the same detour that was used when palm trees were removed from the site to enable the cross-passage works to take place.

On the map the bike detour is in (faint) green.
