Man charged after Franken-bike incident

A 42-year-old Ringwood man was arrested and charged in relation to an incident on the Mullum Mullum Trail where police allege a male riding a powered bike collided with an eight-year-old boy on the track.

The child sustained facial injuries and was treated at hospital.

An incident was reported to police after a family with four children were walking along the Mullum Mullum trail about 1.15pm on Saturday.

Ringwood police have impounded a vehicle after it was allegedly involved in the incident with pedestrians.

Police said the man was released and is expected to be charged on summons with conduct endangering serious injury, unlicensed riding, unregistered riding, drive in a manner dangerous and reckless cause injury.

Police are continuing the investigation and are appealing to anyone who witnessed the bike in the area or who may have footage of the bike to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppers.vic.com.au.
