Recall: E-bike battery fire hazard

The batteries fitted to certain Specialized electric mountain bikes can catch fire and potentially injure the rider and damage the bike and property.

The recall is for:
Specialized Levo FSR, model years 2016-2018;
Levo HT, model years 2018-2021;
Kenevo FSR, model years 2018-2019;
Specialized M1 Battery Pack model years 2016-2021, which could be purchased separately from the bicycle.

Pressure washing can cause water to penetrate the seal around the battery's control panel and may cause a short circuit.

The short circuit increases the risk of a fire.

The recalled products should not be charged or used.

Consumers should return affected battery packs to their nearest authorised Specialized retailer for a repair, free of charge.

To determine whether a battery pack is affected by this recall, remove the battery pack and check the label printed on it.

To identify whether a battery pack is affected by this recall, remove the battery pack from the bicycle and look for the following on the label:
Manufacture date between November 2017 and March 2019; and
