Petition for path at Phillip Island

A petition has been launched asking for a link between Shelly Court and Shoalhaven Road in the Shearwater Estate in Cowes at Phillip Island.

There is currently a grassed patch between the two streets which was used as a connection by people on bikes to avoid using car-dominated roads in the estate.

However, Bass Coast Shire roped off the grass patch to stop people riding between Shelly Court and Shoalhaven Road because mud was getting on the road. The fence now forces people to dismount and walk.

The petition asks for a short section of path between Shelly Court and Shoalhaven Road the would enable people to ride without bringing a speck of dirt with them. It also notes that the problem is the ground surface, not people riding bikes.
