Do some armchair riding with Trail Towns this weekend

If you're housebound this weekend or keen to do some lounge room riding that doesn't involve the trainer, SBS you covered.

The new bike tourism series Trail Towns goes to air this Saturday, with the first of six episodes to take us to one of Australia's most cycle-friendly cities, Canberra.

Throughout the season, hosts Paul van der Ploeg (Vandy) and Dieter Kahsnitz (Deetz) unlock and share valuable knowledge and tips on the best places to eat, drink, stay, and play in some of Australia's best places to visit with a bike.

They'll leave no stone unturned, as they ride through the Victorian Goldfields and the High Country, then continue onto New South Wales’ iconic Snowy Valleys and Western Australia’s Southern Forests and Valleys.

The true heroes of Trail Towns are the local personalities of each community. Engaging them as tour guides, Deetz and Vandy unlock and share valuable knowledge and tips on the best places to eat, drink, stay, and play in each episode.

“When we created Trail Towns, we wanted to shine a light on the local communities and encourage viewers to choose these regions for their next holiday,” says Deetz, Executive Producer and host of Trail Towns.

Vandy adds, “There are many stories to uncover. Bike holidays are more popular than ever as towns and regions are building bike parks, rail trails and opening new cafes, breweries, wineries and so much more! We wanted to help everyone discover new places to holiday.”

Trail Towns premieres on Saturday 5 June at 4pm on SBS. See more at trailtowns.tv.
