Plenty Road closes for tram track work
Plenty Road closes for tram track work

Plenty Road between Miller Street and Bell Street, Preston will be closed to all traffic for a week while trams tracks, poles and wires are replaced.

Bike riders will be diverted along High and Bell Streets from 2:30am 29 May until 5:00am June 7.

Full map is available here.

While a section of the kerbside (parking) lane on Plenty Road between Raglan Street and Miller Street, will be closed from Friday 21 May to Saturday 29 May 2021 to accommodate rail welding works, traffic will still get through.

Yarra Trams and Public Transport Victoria (PTV) say this section of tram track has been identified for urgent renewal and these works will ensure that this portion of the tram network will be made safe and reduce risk of derailments.

The work zone will be fenced off for safety, however footpaths will remain open around the work area to allow pedestrian access to businesses and residences.

There will be kerb-to-kerb fencing which will limit pedestrian crossings.
