Exhibition Street bike lanes to go further
Exhibition Street lanes to go further

Melbourne City has moved to the next stage of it major Exhibition Street bike lane upgrade with work starting next week on the blocks between Bourke and Little Lonsdale Street.

The new protected bike lanes will complete a continuous stretch of new bike infrastructure from Flinders Street to Little Lonsdale Street.

This project is part of a wider program to deliver 40 kilometres of new bike lanes across the city.

The city is changing the existing painted bike lanes to kerbside protected bike lanes and replacing existing tree islands and central medians with new narrowed medians.

All centre of road car parking spaces will be removed along this section of Exhibition Street.

Works will take around 10 weeks to complete, with the majority of works carried out between 7am and 4pm, Monday to Friday.

One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times during works.
