Big prune to wrinkle Main Yarra Trail
Big prune to wrinkle Main Yarra Trail

Not only have the bikes been growing like topsy long the Main Yarra Trail, so have the trees and shrubs.

Crickey! If it’s not the dog walkers sidling across half the path its the tree branches poking their spiky twigs into your face at every turn.

Let the cropping, lopping and chopping begin.

The City of Yarra is coming to the rescue with a ten day pruning blitz along the Main Yarra Trail from Burnley to Dights Falls.

Riders and walkers will continue to have access to the trail, although there may be slight delays.

The sharp blades get to work from next Tuesday, February 9, starting from the Burnley end and finishing around Dights Falls.

Working times proposed are from 9am until 3pm.

The contractor will have on-site stop/go traffic controllers to look after pedestrians and riders.

Your patience will be rewarded with better sight lines and a safer experience along the trail.
