Night riders on Footscray Road set for interruptions

Riders along the Footscray Road trail into the city will face several overnight closures and detours over the next month.

Some of the detours will require redirection via the Moonee Ponds Creek and Dynon Road.

Work along Footscray Road is scaling up, with construction of the massive straddle crane that will build the elevated road well under way.

Friday 19 June – Monday 22 June, between 8pm and 5am

Drainage works will take place on Footscray Road near Appleton Dock Bridge, which will require a closure of the shared use path at this location. Bike riders will need to detour as per map featured. A single lane will remain open for vehicles.

Tuesday 23 June – Saturday 27 June, and again from Monday 29 June – Saturday 4 July, between 9pm and 6am

Night works occurring on Footscray Road, resulting in a minor diversion of the shared use path onto dedicated space on Footscray Road. The works will be undertaken nightly between the hours of 9pm and 6am, and signage will be in place and traffic management on site to assist commuters on their journey.

Friday 10 July – Sunday 12 July, between 8pm and 6am

Works occurring on Footscray Road nightly, resulting in a full outbound closure of Footscray Road and a cyclist detour via Dynon Road. Cyclists will need to detour as per the map featured.

Please note that works might need to be rescheduled in the event of bad weather or other unavoidable circumstances.
