Changes at Walmer Street Bridge

Due to dodgy weather on 1 June 2020, planned works could not proceed to allow the construction of the new access arrangement to the Walmer Street bridge between the riverbank and Victoria Street.

The construction project adjacent to the Walmer Street Bridge in Abbotsford will now make temporary alterations to bike and pedestrian movement through the area from Monday 1 June.

There will be a change to the way Victoria Street is accessed from the riverbank while the reconstruction of Walmer Street takes place.

The change in access will occur in two phases.

Phase 1

Date: Wednesday 3 June 2020
Time: 10.00am to 1.00pm

There will be no access between the riverbank and Victoria Street. Traffic management will be in place at this time to ensure the public’s safety.

Phase 2

Wednesday 3 June 2020 to 24 November 2020

Access will be via an enclosed footpath and ramp. The pedestrian and cyclist access between the riverbank and Victoria Street will be unimpeded for the duration of stage.
