Detour if you ride on Clyde

People who ride on Clyde Road near Berwick station will encounter a small detour next week as preliminary work for removal of the level crossing is done.

Lane closures on Clyde Road between Enterprise Avenue and Jane Street (northbound) and Reserve Street (southbound) will be in place from 7:00pm on Friday 15 May to 4:00am on Monday 18 May.

Riders will need to dismount and walk through Berwick station to go around the worksite. It is the same detour that pedestrians will follow.

Signage will be in place to direct people alongside the Berwick station car park and the footpath on Reserve Street. People heading north can use signalised crossings at Enterprise Avenue and Reserve Street to cross Clyde Road.

Buses will be replacing trains between Pakenham and Dandenong stations while the work is being done, but the Parkiteer cage at Berwick station will remain open.

Work on the project is due to be completed in 2022 with a road underpass to go beneath the railway. The work includes shared paths beside Clyde Road that can be used by people on bikes to ride under the railway.
