Melbourne Water has resumed its water main installation along Canning Street in Carlton, with a new detour route for riders.
From Monday 13 January, stages 4 and 5 of construction will be underway simultaneously.
The new detour is in place at the intersection of Newry Street where southbound bicycle riders on Canning Street will be detoured around the construction site, turning right onto Newry Street then left onto Rathdowne Street.
You can then continue south towards the city on Rathdowne Street, or turn left at Kay Street to return to Canning Street.
Stage 4 works will be located at the intersection of Canning and Princes street, where the water main pipe will be installed by tunnelling underneath Princes Street to avoid major traffic disruptions.
Stage 5 works will take place from Princes Street to Newry Street, Carlton North, trenching to continue installing the new water main pipe.
