Our North-West riders are avoiding the Christmas rush by holding their festive season ride on Sunday 29 December this year.
The destination will be the ever popular yurt at The Berry Patch in Turners Beach for lunch at 12.30 pm.
But to get there we’ll have a couple of ride options depending on how much time you have and how many festive season treats you need to work off.
Ride 1: Start at The Berry Patch at 9.30 am and head out to Penguin and back, which is about a 36 km round trip ride taking the old Penguin Road.
Ride 2: Start from the Berry Patch at 11.15 am and ride to Ulverstone or meet up with the Penguin rides then back to The Berry Patch. This is an easier trip, mostly along paths and the round trip is about 14 km.
Ride 3: Start at the Lions Park on Surf Club Road in Penguin, ride to The Berry Patch then back to Penguin after lunch.
While lunch will be a relaxed affair there will be a brainstorm afterwards to nut out the schedule of rides for 2020. Rides are held once a month, usually on Sundays and at least once a year there is a weekend away with a Saturday night dinner.
Festive decorations on your bike or person are strongly encouraged!
Please RSVP to Roger Nichols about which ride option you intend to pursue and whether you are staying for lunch.
Upcoming rides & events
Social rides are featured in each edition of In the Loop, but if you want more notice visit our social rides calendar, which is regularly updated.
- Sunday 1 March 2020 – Women on Wheels 20thanniversary ride
The strength of our social rides program depends on members volunteering to lead rides. The North-West riders group is a great example of how several ride leaders can share the load to offer a year’s worth of fun, challenging rides that cater to a variety of abilities.
Bicycle Network Tasmania accredits Social Ride Leaders, and requires anyone interested in leading rides to be accredited. If you would like to be one of our Ride Leaders, please volunteer here and we'll let you know when the next Ride Leader Skills Development Workshop is scheduled.
