Moonee Ponds Creek Trail
Moonee Ponds Creek Trail improvements through Kensington

The City of Melbourne will begin reconstruction of the busy Moonee Ponds Creek trail through Kensington next week.

The concrete has been deteriorating and riders have been encountering various bumps, tilted and lifted sections, and broken concrete.

Reconstruction will start next Tuesday 6 August and continue until the weekend.

The concrete takes three to four days to cure, so don’t try and sneak in before the path is officially reopened.

During work the path will be closed between McCauley Road and Arden Street. See map below.

The detour is along Langford Street. Riders will be familiar with the detour as it is the same as was used previously during the work on the piers beneath the freeway.

There will be signage and traffic controllers on site to assist with the detour.

Care will need to be taken at Arden Street, which is busy with cars and complicated by the railway crossing gates.
