Lennox Street closure
The bike lane on Lennox Street between Elizabeth and Butler streets in Richmond will be closed in both directions during the day from Monday 22 July until maybe Friday 26 July.
It is hoped that work will be completed quickly and the bike lane reopened before 26 July.
The closure will be active between 7:00am and 5:00pm. Detours will be setup using Victoria, Shelley and Elizabeth streets.
Work is being done to upgrade the Richmond gas main.
Webb Bridge closure
Webb Bridge, the pedestrian and bike bridge over the Yarra in Docklands, will be closed for re-surfacing next week.
The bridge will be closed for 24 hours each day from Tuesday 23 July until Wednesday 31 July.
Bike riders will be detoured via the Seafarers Bridge several hundred metres to the East.
Pedestrians will be able to use the neighbouring Charles Grime Bridge.
Albert St route disruption
Riders travelling into the city via Albert Road in East Melbourne will be disrupted for the next few days.
Melbourne Water’s big water main project has re-started and will close west-bound lanes, including the bike lane, from Clarendon to Eades Street, for two weeks.
The only legal detour for riders is to walk your bike a couple of hundred metres through the Fitzroy Gardens.
Swanston Street bike lane closure 12 – 19 2019
Riders heading out of the city on Swanston Street should be alert to construction works from Thursday 12 July until 19 July.
Between Victoria and Queensberry Streets there will be gantry construction underway at a building site.
Peak traffic periods will not be impacted on week days, with works underway from 9:30am – 4:00pm.
Work on Saturday 13 July will be done between 8:00am and 3:00pm.
La Trobe Street detour
The Melbourne Metro Tunnel project continues to interrupt the La Trobe Street bike route, although traffic condition will change from Saturday.
The current bike detour along Little Lonsdale Street will remain in place through July, although the east-bound traffic lane between Elizabeth and Swanston Streets will be open during the day only.
The bike lane is closed due to service relocations that involve excavation of service trenches, installation of services, back filling, and reinstating the road.
The condition of the road is likely to be messy and riders would be wise to stick to the detour.
Traffic management will be in place to safely guide pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists around the work areas.
City Square driveway impacts night riders - Sunday 30 June to Wednesday 24 July
The next few weeks will see some furious activity around the Metro Tunnel station site as a new driveway and site entrance are installed on Swanston Street at Flinders Lane.
There will be some disruption for bikes, and considerable changes for pedestrians.
During these works the southbound bike lane between Collins Street and Flinders Lane will be closed—between 1am and 5am—on the nights of Monday 1 and Tuesday 2 July.
Overall, construction activities will be underway at the location from this Sunday, 30 June until July 24.
The east west pedestrian crossing at the Swanston Street and Flinders Lane intersection will be closed during this period.
The Flinders Lane pedestrian crossing between City Square and St Paul’s Cathedral will be closed for two nights between 8pm and 7am on Sunday 30 June and Thursday 4 July
Once the night works are completed the pedestrian crossing will be realigned to enable space for a long term driveway egress from late July 2019.
Access to tram stop 11 will be maintained at all times.
From next week the construction activities—mostly during the night, but some Saturday work—will involve:
Installing barriers on the Swanston Street footpath to create a delineated work area Demolishing a kerb and road traffic island Pavement removal using an excavator with a hammer attachment Installing a roller door Asphalting and minor civil works to construct the new driveway.
Also note that Flinders Lane will be closed between 8pm and 7am on Sunday 30 June and from Wednesday 3 to Thursday 4 July.
Old Beechy Rail trail temporary closure
The Old Beechy Rail Trail is temporarily CLOSED from Kawarren to Ferguson while the Colac Otway Shire Council discusses conditions of access with four landowners in this section.
Brunswick: Upfield path at Jewell railway station – January 2018 to October 2019
Works as part of the Neometro project at Jewell Station will result in the Upfield bike path being closed for almost years between Barkly Street and Union Street.
Bike riders will be redirected via an off-ramp at Barkly Street, around Black Street and Wilson Avenue before rejoining the bike path at Union Street.
There will be cars using these streets during this time.
Extra care should be taken on Wilson Avenue which has blind corners.
