Work starts on Monash connection

Works have started on an important bike path link that will better connect riders to Monash University.

A project along Forster Road, Mount Waverley, will take riders from the Scotchmans Creek Trail across to Ferntree Gully Road where they will join a recently completed off-road path into the university campus.

Two new signalised crossings will be built as part of the project – at the trail on Forster Road, and at Monash Freeway to Forster Road entry ramp towards Ferntree Gully Road.

Upgrading of the existing traffic lights for pedestrians and cyclists at the intersection of Forster Road and Ricketts Road is a further benefit.

The works, due to be completed in October, are part of the major Syndal to Clayton strategic cycling corridor project, that when eventually completed will provide thousands of students and staff at the Monash employment precinct with an attractive commuting route.
