Maribyrnong Trail detour
Maribyrnong Trail detour

From Monday there will be a short detour of the Maribyrnong River Trail at Steele Creek Reserve in Essendon West as Melbourne Water continues its sewer upgrade project.

The detour will be in place for about two weeks while a new sewer bypass pipeline is installed.

The detour will be via a new crossing over Steele Creek that Melbourne Water is installing to enable access, and the transportation of machinery, equipment and materials for the sewer upgrade works.

Trail users will be directed to use the new crossing. Signs and traffic controllers will be in place to assist bike riders and pedestrians so that they are able to safely navigate around our work areas.

Melbourne Water is upgrading 7.2 kilometres of the Maribyrnong River Main (MRM) sewer that runs through Avondale Heights, Essendon West and Aberfeldie.

See the map below as a detour guide.
