Dooring campaign revived

With warmer weather on the way, and rider numbers rapidly on the rise, road users are being reminded to keep a focus on the risks of dooring.

Dooring is an always present threat to riders, and when rider numbers go up, the interactions with parked cars increases, and then all it takes for a tragedy is a driver or passenger to step out of the car with their mind in neutral.

VicRoads is rolling out another social media campaign to keep the issue actively in the minds of road users.

And as many bike riders are also drivers and passengers, the message also applies to us.

VicRoads advice for both drivers and riders can be found here, as well as information about regulations and fines.

Their key message being that "car drivers and bike riders should share the road safely and look out for each other".
