Flemington Bridge
Capital City Trail detour

Works on the bike bridge between Parkville and Flemington will cause disruption to some riders on the Capital City Trail route during July.

Commuters will be mostly spared, although riders in the middle of the day will have to detour.

This is the bridge over Mount Alexander Road that runs parallel to the Upfield railway line.

For safety reasons climb-proof mesh is being installed, the side panels replaced, and new LED lighting installed.

Transurban has also undertaken to smooth out the nasty surface irregularities where the bridge joins the abutments.

Works will begin just after the morning peak at 9:30 am and will continue through the day until just before the evening peak at 4:00pm.

During the day there will be a detour that many riders will be familiar with, as variations have been used previously. It involves crossings of boundary and Flemington Roads and then along Church and Manningham Streets back up to the trail.

See map here. (Where the maps says “pedestrians”, it means bike riders.)

Works will begin on Monday 2 July and are expected to continue for three weeks.
