Gravel Grit Central Coast 2017
Grit, dirt and dust – Gravel Grit goes off without a hitch

Yesterday more than 200 riders took a gritty, off-road adventure at Bicycle Network’s first Gravel Grit Central Coast in partnership with Cyclist Magazine Australia.

With blue skies, sunshine and only a whisper of breeze, a mix of roadies, CX, mountain bikers and tourers tackled four different gravel loops through the Olney State Forest and Watagans National Park.

Starting and finishing at Cooranbong, the course was dry, dusty, sandy and rocky – leaving riders to navigate a mix of steep inclines, fire trails, bitumen and 4WD tracks.

Feedback was overwhelmingly positive from riders and volunteers alike, with coffee, on-route snacks, post-ride brews and a BBQ going down a treat.

It wouldn’t be a Bicycle Network event without our incredible volunteers who gave up their Sunday to ensure all participants had a trouble-free day.

We would also like to say a special thank you our partner Cyclist Magazine Australia and all other riders and supporters who made the event possible – Forest Corporation of NSW, NSW Police, Rapha, AllPress expresso, Mountain Goat beer, Skratch Labs, 3T and Shimano.

Here’s some snaps of yesterday’s ride and if you’ve got any to share from the day, use #GravelGrit on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook and tag @bicycle_network.
