Bushfire threat to Gravel Grit Central Coast minimal

A small bushfire in the Watagans National Park is not expected to impact Bicycle Network’s inaugural Gravel Grit Central Coast this Sunday.

With more than 200 riders gearing themselves up for the ride, Gravel Grit Central Coast will go ahead as planned, starting at 8:00am sharp.

We always put the wellbeing of our riders first. We’re working closely with local authorities and are in regular contact with the Forest Corporation of NSW.

At this stage, we’re confident that the bushfire does not pose any risk to the event.

Should conditions change over the next couple of days, we will be in contact with riders via text, our website, Facebook and Twitter so please keep an eye out for updates.

Currently, the weather for Sunday is 19 degrees, mostly sunny, with a light breeze (wind WSW 15km/h at 9am). Perfect conditions for a gravel riding adventure.

We’re told that the air quality is also good across the route. However, we encourage asthma sufferers to be prepared. All rest stops will have ample supplies of water too.

All riders are must also have front and rear lights, two water bottles and puncture repair kits. Click here for more tips and info for riders.
