Heading south, cyclists will turn right at this cul-de-sac to ride on the Main Rd footpath before returning to the InterCity Cycleway at Derwent Park Rd.
InterCity Cycleway interrupted

Riders will have to deal with a major detour on Hobart’s InterCity Cycleway in September.

The closure will allow TasGas to do major work on the gas pipeline in Derwent Park Rd, which crosses the cycleway.

The cycleway will be closed from the northern side of Derwent Park Rd to the small cul-de-sac off Main Rd at the Derwent Park Newsagency, south of Lampton Avenue.

Temporary fences will block the cycleway at both detour points from September 2 to 11 and there will be detour signs erected and traffic management during work hours.

The Glenorchy City Council will make improvements to the footpath surface in time for the detour.

Bicycle Network asks riders to report any problems during the period of the detour to assist the council in managing the area.
