Frequently asked questions for our bike riding insurance:
Am I covered overseas?
Yes. You are covered overseas for up to $50,000 for medical or repatriation expenses.
Medical expenses means:
- Hospital accommodation and theatre fees
- Orthotics, splints and prosthesis
- Treatment given by a dentist or registered medical practitioner
- If given on the advice of a medical practitioner, treatment by a chiropractor, masseur, naturopath, osteopath or physiotherapist
Am I covered for racing?
The only races you are covered for are those run by Bicycle Network.
Do I need to be a Bicycle Network member to participate in events?
No, but if you’re not a Bicycle Network member you won’t be covered on the day.
What are the main benefits of membership?
- Bike riding insurance (medical coverage, third party coverage and income protection)
- Legal support
- Rider's rights
- A subscription to Ride On magazine
Is my bike covered as a part of Bicycle Network Insurance?
No, your bike isn’t covered by Bicycle Network insurance. You’re covered for personal injury and public liability.
What is the medical excess?
- $150 for personal injury
- $1,000 for public liability
How much compensation can I claim for?

What is the process to make a claim?
Call us on (03) 8376 8888 and book a time to speak with our dedicated Riders’ Rights Co-Ordinator. They’ll talk you through how to claim.
My bike has been damaged/stolen/lost, is this covered?
No, this is not covered. If your bike is stolen from your house it may be covered under you Home and Contents insurance, otherwise we would recommend using CycleSafe to insure your bike.
Can I get the driver/other person(s) involved in the incident to pay for my bike/property damages?
Yes you can, if they’re at fault. You need to take pictures of your property damage. Although it’s hard to go without your bike, we recommend that you don’t get it fixed straight away. Get in contact with us (03) 8376 8888 and we’ll talk you though the best way to go about this as it may differ depend on the situation. Just remember where possible at the time of the accident to get the driver’s details or person(s) involved details.
Can I get a concession membership for family of 2 and 3+?
The family of 2 and family of 3+ memberships are already at a discounted rate, there is no concession option.
