I know this has subject has been covered before but I wanted to get peoples current ideas.
A friend of mine has asked me to help him find a bike with a budget of about $700. He is 1.98 (6 foot six) tall and weighs in at around 150 kilo.
He just wants to pootle along bike paths and teach his daughter to ride. I highly doubt he will take it much further than that, so I’m not concerned about finding a bike that may suit his future needs.
I had a look at Ivanhoe cycles and I thought the Giant Seek 2 looked suitable for his size for the following reasons.http://www.bikeexchange.com.au/bicycles/giant/bikes-urban/giant-seek-2/carnegie/vic/102117820
No suspension fork, not needed and at his budget most suspensions forks would be low end.
High spoke count wheels 32 spoke count, would prefer 36 TBH
Hydraulic disk brakes
Solid looking frame.
The staff there pointed me at the same bike and had the same thinking as me, they also mentioned it is a lifetime warranty on the frame and in their experience Giant are fine with claims and he will be stressing the frame.
My main concern are wheels (besides fit).
They also had a GT 29er but I think the Giant is a better bet.
Any other suggestions? Ducky do you reckon the wheels would be OK for his use?
